Mr Le Wooz
un revival di suoni e ritmi, melodie che mi hanno rituffato negli 80's in un modo particolarmente personale una gran bella boccata d'aria di mezzo al marasma ambiente.
Favorite track: Midnight Dive.
In a parallel universe, the cold war turned into World War 3, leading to nuclear apocalypse. In the aftermath of total atomic annihilation, spaceships are storming to abandon the barren, dystopian landscape that planet Earth has turned into, embarking on a desperate journey through the darkest depths of space.
Chapter 2: SKYRIDE
Among those spacecraft is the NS-001, led by former astronaut Ryū Schein. There is a fierce determination in his eyes as the engines roar and his ship lifts off. Not once does he look back to the planet he’s leaving behind, his mind is filled with just one thought: getting the hell away from it as soon as possible.
Chapter 3: ROGER THIS, SALLY
As the NS-001 safely enters space, the adrenaline wears off, and Schein experiences a flashback, his mind bringing him back to how things were before the war started out. He relives the familiar routine of getting the ship ready, the sense of relief upon completing launch successfully, the intense emotional attachment to that little blue planet he felt when looking at Earth from space, which he thought he’d get used to as an astronaut but that always caught him unprepared. The warmth and comfort of those memories suddenly fade away as the present catches up with him; all the emotions that had been previously suppressed in the urgency of the escape surface again, and for the first time Schein realizes the weight of the infinite solitude of space. Shocked and frightened, he collapses to the ground, shivering and cold, and jumps right back into the soft and timeless world of his memories, unable to face reality.
Chapter 4: MIDNIGHT DIVE
The onboard transceiver, which had been awfully quiet until then, suddenly starts emitting a signal - it’s nothing more than rumbling static, but it’s enough to make Schein snap out of his emotional breakdown: are there any other survivors? Is there a safe planet to land on not too far away? Brimming over with his new-found hope and motivation, Schein sets course for the source of the signal: now his journey has a destination.
Chapter 5: CONTEMPLATION
All controls set, Schein leaves main bridge and heads for a quieter section of the spaceship. He enters a dark room and looks out the big portholes, his back against the wall, contemplating the infinite laying ahead. Again, his memory is jogged, but this time the images crossing his mind are desolating and frightful: he sees summary trials conducted against the innocent, large concentration camps in remote areas, several suns in the sunset. A cold shiver runs down his spine; he closes his eyes, trying to shake it off, then looks the porthole again. As he does, he realizes how insignificant all of that is compared to the infinite vastity of space. Suddenly, a small, purple-glowing dot appears in the distance...
Chapter 6: CONVERGENCE
There’s no doubt about it: the mysterious purple planet drawing nearer and nearer is the source of the radio transmission. While Schein’s still deciding how to go about landing, a sudden interference causes him to lose control over his ship: a crash-landing is unavoidable at this point. Schein miraculously remains unscathed, but the NS-001 is severely damaged and won’t be able to leave the planet unless repaired. With whatever little equipment he’s able to save from the shipwreck, Schein sets out to explore the surroundings. The signal he’d been following is very close. As he walks, a barren, dystopian landscape unfolds before him. It looks weirdly familiar. A horrible suspicion arises in the back of his mind. After a few hour’s walk, Schein reaches the source of the signal, but there’s nothing around him, not for miles. With fright he realizes that he’s alone, trapped on a dead planet. The shock causes him to faint.
Chapter 7: TRIUMPHANT
Schein’s in a state of unconsciousness. In his dreams he sees an endless horizon, the sky turning yellow, the clouds luminous and bright. The whole picture is permeated by a profound sense of serenity. As he sets his eyes on the big, intense orange glowing sun starting to set on the horizon, he feels a burst of euphoria. As he closes his eyes in awe, a vague sense of unease suddenly starts spreading inside of him like a drop of ink in a glass of water: he’s starting to regain his senses. He desperately fights back, and as he starts running towards the setting sun, a new euphoria rush pulls him down deeper and deeper into his subconscious.
Chapter 8: FRIDAY
Schein dives into another memory from a far away past. He sees bustling activity, people running around carrying around paperwork, it’s a busy morning in an office. There’s some stress involved but overall the atmosphere is not a negative one, more like hectic anticipation, waiting for that clock to declare the end of the shift. All that energy builds up until it’s finally time for it to be released: everyone starts glowing, they turn into spheres of pulsating light, dancing around relentlessly in a burst of contagious euphoria. Schein drowns deep into this feeling, he completely loses himself into it, wishing he could stay like that forever. Slowly but ineluctably, however, that vision too starts to fade away as he starts regaining consciousness.
Chapter 9: DIVERGENCE
Schein suddenly opens his eyes and sits up gasping for air. The landscape around him is just the way he had left it: dull, barren, grey and dark. He’s gonna have to somehow come to grips with this new reality. He stands up, shaking, and slowly starts walking towards an empty horizon.

Jordan Vauvert
